Chef Goose Sorensen’s restaurant — Solera, with its Spanish farmhouse cuisine — has been a successful anchor on East Colfax since 2001, and he’s paying it forward with a benefit for Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, which helps heal bodies and souls of disabled veterans with the splendor of fishing in mountain scenery.
On Aug. 13, he’s gathering five of his closest chef friends to cook up some seriously delicious food. They want to give the gift of some restorative time on the water, and 100 percent of the proceeds will go to Project Healing Waters, which focuses on the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active military service personnel and disabled veterans.
Solera’s whole staff will donate their time that evening, along with Sorensen and his chef pals, who include Jamey Fader of Lola Mexican Fish House and Jax Fish House; of Fruition and Mercantile Dining and Provisions; Andrea Frizzi of Il Posto, Matt Selby of Central Bistro and Bar, and
They’ll be making a cornucopia of tasty appetizers and tapas. Guests will be able to mingle with the chefs, and also meet some of the wounded veterans to thank them in person.
The benefit is Aug. 13 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Solera, 5410 Colfax Ave. Tickets are $100 per person. For reservations, call 303-388-8429.
