Another poll the other day revealed No doubt that reflects low economic growth and disdain for political leadership, but it also reflects a blindness to a number of long-term positive trends.

For example, this week the National Center for Health Statistics revealed that infant mortality had dropped to a historic low — again. It does this year after year, and we take it for granted.

Life expectancy keeps increasing, too, to cite just one more encouraging trend.

Cheer up, America — at least a little.
