While the author has good intentions in inviting bats near people, one should think twice about doing so because bats may harbor rabies. Rabies is caused by a virus that can develop into a deadly disease for both humans and animals. It is ill-advised to suggest that homeowners install bat houses near households or encourage human interaction with bats in any way.
