An off-duty Adams County Sheriff’s deputy was involved in a Tuesday morning wreck near Commerce City.

The wreck happened at 8:20 a.m. on U.S. 85 near West 77th Avenue, said Colorado State Patrol Trooper Nate Reid.

A truck pulling an empty flat-bed trailer was traveling south on U.S. 85 and attempted a left turn, Reid said.

The deputy, who was driving a Ford pickup truck, was traveling north on U.S. 85 when the two vehicles collided.

The truck’s driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was injured and taken to a hospital, Reid said. The deputy suffered minor injuries but was not transported for treatment.

The state patrol’s hazardous materials team was called to clean hydraulic fluid from the road.

The accident temporarily closed northbound traffic on U.S. 85, but it has reopened.
