No smooth getaway. As police investigated a three-person shoving match at the corner of South Windermere Street and West Powers Avenue in Littleton on July 20, one of the men involved rode off on his bike. Police pursued him and used a Taser to disable him. He had two warrants for his arrest and a pipe, likely for meth, hidden in his sock.

Car theft contradiction. A stolen van was found unoccupied in the 4500 block of South Broadway, Englewood, at 3 a.m. July 17. When police located a 19-year-old man who admitted to recently driving the van, he denied knowing it was stolen but acknowledged starting it with a screwdriver. He was arrested.

Really, no smoking. A man was arrested for trying to punch a nurse at Littleton Adventist Hospital, 7700 S. Broadway, Littleton, on July 24. The man, brought in for acute alcohol intoxication, twice tried to light cigarettes before the nurse took them. The second time he stood up, cursed and cocked his hand back but was restrained.

Flushed financial fraud. Police encountered a 48-year-old man illegally occupying a public bathroom in Cushing Park, 700 W. Dartmouth Ave., Englewood, at about 1:30 a.m. July 26. He was carrying eight stolen credit cards and 22 uncashed checks from other people. He was arrested.

Inconvenient timing. A man living in the 7100 block of Acoma Street, Littleton, said his brother’s ex-girlfriend barged into his house July 25 and started looking for something. He kicked her out but later realized his wallet was missing. He couldn’t be sure she took it.
