On July 24, the tenants had a party and the landlord’s car was keyed. There were no suspects, but police told the victim it was a bad idea to live with people she was trying to evict.

Random attack. While a man was leaving the 7-Eleven at 16080 E. Colfax Ave. on July 25, another man ran into him and shoved him for no reason. Three other men ran over and started hitting him. The victim said the suspects never said anything to him.

Robbed after a meeting. Two people in town for business reported that someone stole their credit card and cellphone from a conference room in the 3800 block of North Lewiston Street after a meeting July 23. The thieves charged gas, food and other things to the card before it was canceled.

Black paint, white walls. A construction worker building an apartment complex in the 24700 block of East Applewood Drive saw that someone went onto the property July 21 and spray painted profanities all over the walls, doors, bathtubs and sinks.

Cracked safe. A man who lives in the 17300 block of East Harvard Avenue called police July 20 because someone broke into a safe in his office and stole $3,000 and a book of checks. The man’s garage door was open when he came home, but he said he closed it before he left for work.

Long way from home. Police found a car July 21 in the 2500 block of North Joliet Street that was stolen from a woman in Lafayette. There was no suspect evidence inside.
