AURORA — Police are investigating a homicide in which a man was shot in the abdomen inside his third-floor apartment late Thursday.
Many neighbors who heard the shots at 10:12 p.m. inside the four-story apartment building at 1568 Nome St. said the man was later talking before he was transported in an ambulance. He was pronounced dead at a hospital, police say.
Police have not released any information about possible suspects.
The name of the victim has not been identified by police.
Friends and neighbors identified the man only by his first name, Ray.
“He was fighting for his life,” said Kristia Wright, 36, who was watching TV with her five children, ages 10 to 16, in the neighboring apartment, when she heard a loud scuffle. “We heard three bumps against the wall real loud. … Then we heard pow, pow, pow.”
