Lots of restaurants are opening in town right now, and in Washington Park, that includes a French bistro called Cafe Marmotte, from the people who’ve made La Marmotte in Telluride a success for about 20 years.

It will open later this summer, in the space that formerly housed the Spicy Ginger Asian Bistro, across from , at the intersection of Alameda Avenue and Downing Street.

Thatap not far from the intersection of Alameda and Pennsylvania Street, with such restaurants as and Telegraph thatap in the former Grey Cactus space, which Chris Sargent — who owns — is soon set to open.

“My wife and I have been looking for a place in Denver over the past four to five years,” said Mark Reggiannini, chef and co-owner of Cafe Marmotte. “This seemed like a good neighborhood.”

Reggianni’s culinary pedigree includes working as sous chef for the celebrated chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten at Mercer Kitchen in Manhattan, before he moved to Telluride.

He’s now working on the menu for Cafe Marmotte, which will be similar to that of La Marmotte, including the classic Coq au Vin.
