A motorcyclist is seriously injured after a weekend crash in Aurora involving a motorcycle and a minivan.
The Saturday night crash happened at the intersection of East Hampden Avenue and South Winston Street around 9 p.m., according to an Aurora Police Department news release.
Witnesses told police that a 2011 gold Honda Odyssey was making a left turn on a green light from southbound Winston Street to eastbound Hampden Avenue. The motorcycle, a 2003 grey Suzuki, was said to be speeding westbound on Hampden Avenue.
The Suzuki driver ran the red light, witnesses said, and struck the driver’s side of the minivan.
The motorcycle rider, who was wearing a helmet, suffered serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital, the release said.
His identity has not been released at this time.
The driver and sole occupant of the minivan was uninjured. His identity has yet to be released.
Investigators believe speeding was a factor in the crash, the release said.
