Four people were injured in a seven-vehicle crash Monday afternoon on Tower Road in Commerce City.

The chain reaction collision started when a semi-truck rear-ended a vehicle in the northbound lanes of Tower Road near East 100th Avenue, said Cmdr. Dave Cubbage, a Commerce City Police Department spokesman.

The collision, just before 4 p.m., spilled into the southbound lanes of Tower Road and the road was shut down in both directions.

Four people were taken to a local hospital with injuries. None of the injuries are life-threatening, Cubbage said.

The road was opened, in both directions, shortly after 6 p.m.

The truck driver was cited for careless driving.
