Friday-Sept. 7: The Colorado State Fair has operated out of Pueblo for 146 years, but this may be one of the last years to catch it there, given its cash-strapped position (2014’s operating losses topped $3 million). It’s not for lack of programming diversity. The 11-day event, which opens Aug. 28 and continues through Sept. 7, features a broad, crowd-pleasing mix of agricultural competitions, performances and family-friendly attractions, including performances from comedian Terry Fator, musical acts Three Days Grace, Jerrod Nieman, Chase Rice, Jake Owen and many more. $7-$10 gate admission, with varying prices for individual events. Call 800-876-4567 or visit for the full list.
