A teen who allegedly brought a loaded gun to school last week in Thornton has been charged with a felony.

On Friday a resource officer at Thornton High School, acting on a tip, found a and took a 15-year-old student into custody.

The 10th grader has been charged with possession of a weapon on school grounds, a felony; as well as two misdemeanors, possession of a handgun by a juvenile, and carrying a concealed weapon, according to the Adams County District Attorney’s Office.

The defendant appeared Thursday in Adams County District Court for advisement of formal charges.

He was released to his mother on a $5,000 personal recognizance bond. A pre-trial conference is scheduled Sept. 24.
