The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a jail inmate was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead Sunday morning.
The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office Jail Division requested an ambulance at 10:45 a.m., according to a press release.
A male inmate was taken to Boulder Community Foothills Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
“We have detectives at the jail investigating now and the coroner has the body. We really don’t know what the cause of death is. We are interviewing people in his cell block,” said Boulder Sheriff’s spokeswoman Heidi Prentup.
The sheriff’s office is withholding further information pending notification of next of kin.
