Health officials in Jefferson County on Tuesday announced their first confirmed human case of West Nile virus this year.
“An unincorporated Jefferson County resident sought medical treatment after symptoms developed, was released and continues to recover at home,” the county’s health department said in a news release.
Officials say the person infected may have been exposed in the southern Jefferson County area.
“So far, only two mosquito pools have tested positive for (the virus) in the county,” the release said.
As of Aug. 21, there were of the virus reported in Colorado this year.
