In your article about Colorado health insurance statistics, Kevin Patterson, interim leader of Connect for Health Colorado, expressed a wish that people would treat their own health care and health insurance more like their cars. Humans, like cars, benefit from preventive maintenance, he said, and a minimal car insurance policy risks big expenses in case of an accident. Patterson apparently has never seen people driving around in old beaters. Some people drive old cars because they cannot afford new ones. Some people buy low-premium, high-deductible insurance because that is all they can afford regardless of the potential risks.
The costs of health insurance and medical care are still too high in spite of the Affordable Care Act.
