Getting your player ready...

The pitcher got the better of his old batterymate Tuesday night at Yankee Stadium.

In a reunion of former Grandview High School teammates, Kevin Gausman (class of 2010) and Greg Bird (2011) played against each other — Gausman as the pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles, Bird as the first baseman for New York.

They faced each other twice, with Gausman striking Bird out swinging both times.

Gausman (2-6, 4.43 ERA) allowed one run in five innings Tuesday and didn’t get a decision in the Orioles’ 2-1 victory.

Bird, who made his major-league debut Aug. 13, finished 0-for-4 with three strikeouts. But in 23 games, he’s batting .250 and has five home runs and 17 RBIs.

Gausman and Bird played varsity ball together at Grandview in 2009 and 2010. Gausman compiled a 12-4 record with a 3.40 ERA and 127 strikeouts in 101 innings pitched during the span. Bird, who played catcher, blasted a Colorado-best 27 home runs while batting .574 with 74 RBIs during his final two prep seasons.
