Getting your player ready...

Saturday: The Denver Art Museum just happens to have one of the best collections of Indian art in the country, bringing a nice symmetry between the ceramics and beadwork in the galleries all year and the annual Friendship Powwow and American Indian Cultural Celebration each September. Indian dancers and drum groups bring the static objects alive while vendors sell traditional wares that allow folks to take some of the spirit home with them. There’s also music, hands-on activities for families and, of course, fry bread. Artist-in-residence Tom Haukaas demonstrates floral beadwork at 11 a.m. and the Powwow Grand Entry is at noon. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Denver Art Museum, West 13th Avenue between Broadway and Bannock Street. Free. 720-865-5000 or .
