Getting your player ready...

Chris Helbig laughed at the thought of it. No, he didn’t appreciate what was going on.

“I guess I didn’t truly know, it didn’t seem like that many,” the senior at Holy Family said on Thursday.

Against Mountain View last weekend, Helbig was 29-of-45 passing for 607 yards and six touchdowns. The yardage total set a Colorado mark, eclipsing the 589 Air Academy’s Adam Brown attained against Sand Creek last season.

“We had a lot of short passes and guys did the running,” Helbig said. “And winning the game was the most important thing.”

Holy Family was able to outlast thew Mountain Lions by 49-43.

Still, Helbig allowed that “it was pretty cool.”
