Film festival
The Breck Film Fest runs Sept. 17-20 in Breckenridge. Opening night features a showing of freeskiing film “Snowman.” Also, director and pro skier Mike Douglas and star Kevin Fogolin will be on hand to answer questions. Balloon bash

Frontier history
Lamar Community College hosts “Frontier History Encampment,” a biannual living-history event, Oct. 2-3. The campus welcomes first-person historic interpreters — whom attendees can meet — to bring to life the experience of living on the Great Plains during the 1800s.
