Re: “College rankings in a high-debt age,” Sept. 15 editorial.
Many people believe the path out of poverty is through education. But too many have pursued post-secondary education only to end up without a job in their field, with no bump in earnings, and dangerously deep in debt.
The information on collegescorecard.ed.gov is presented in a consumer-friendly, comparative format. It is not totally comprehensive and major-specific; it is, however, a big leap forward compared to other websites. Most rare, it includes critical data regarding the cost of a specific college vs. the actual earnings of that college’s graduates.
