Brighton police say authorities have located a 36-year-old developmentally delayed woman and her 11-year old son, both , in the Mexico border area.
Paula Jane Knapp and her son, Casey Knapp, were last heard from when they left their Brighton home abruptly. Authorities say they followed leads that the pair might have been in Mexico with Paula Knapp’s boyfriend.
“Detectives were able to contact federal authorities at the border and were able to catch Paula as she crossed the border back into El Paso, Texas, late Wednesday afternoon,” police said in a news release.
After “a lengthy interview” with authorities, Paula Knapp led officials to a hotel in Juarez, Mexico, where Casey was found in a motel room with Knapp’s boyfriend, Daryl Robb.
Police say Robb was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant for sexual exploitation of a child.
“Casey is in the custody of welfare services in El Paso,” the release says.
