Two Lone Tree police officers were injured early Friday after their patrol cars were struck by a vehicle on the shoulder of Interstate 25.

Police say both officers were treated at a hospital and released.

The officers were finishing up an investigation after a traffic stop in the interstate’s northbound lanes near Lincoln Avenue when they were struck about 12:45 a.m.

Police say a vehicle, driven by a man, struck one of the patrol vehicles and pushed it into a second.

“Both of the patrol vehicles had an officer inside,” police said in a news release.

The driver, whose name was not released, was arrested by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, which is now investigating the wreck.

“It does appear that alcohol contributed to this (collision),” the release said.
