Getting your player ready...

We can talk about . We can talk about the Broncos’ defense winning the game once again. We can talk about their five takeaways and the team’s still-shaky offensive line.

We can, and we will.

But … what the heck happened on the Chiefs’ final drive? Why would coach Andy Reid have Jamaal Charles run the ball at their own 31-yard line with 19 seconds left in a tie game?

“Yeah, well what we were going to try to do was bust one,” Reid explained. “We were in the 30s there. So we were going to try to bust one and if we could get within a field-goal shot — you know, you get to the minus-40 or plus-40 — you have an opportunity for maybe a shot there. The way (Charles) was running, he was running great and I thought that was a good play. Didn’t work out so good.”

The decision cost Kansas City the game, as Brandon Marshall and Bradley Roby scooped it up and returned it 21 yards for the game-winning touchdown.

“I think I was just trying to make a play and (wasn’t) careful with the ball and one of the defenders punched it out,” Charles said. “I should have just been smarter and put two hands on the ball. I caused us the loss today. I tried to put the team on my back and I ended up losing the game. It’s all on me tonight.”
