The emergency security concern is over at the Larimer campus of Front Range Community College, officials said around 4:45 p.m. on Friday.
The campus is scheduled to reopen at 5 p.m. after an evacuation prompted by a “campus emergency situation,” the college said in a tweet.
A threat via Snapchat prompted the evacuation, according to a Fort Collins Police Department media release.
Sebastian Calvo, 18, a student, is suspected of making the alleged threat. He was arrested on suspicion of interference with staff, faculty, or students of educational institutions. He was taken to the Larimer County Jail.
On Friday afternoon, the campus’ website had an emergency alert that read, “An Evacuation Order has been issued for the Larimer Campus. Do not come to campus until instructed. If on campus, take your belongings and evacuate the campus.”
A voice recording on the campus’s main telephone lines said, “We are in a campus emergency situation and we cannot accept messages at this time.”
The campus reopened at 5 p.m., all scheduled activities resumed.
“You may return to Larimer after 5 p.m. to pick up items left behind,” the college said. “Campus also scheduled to be open on Saturday for regular hours.”
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call Detective Brian Mallory at 970-221-6880 or Crime Stoppers at 970-221-6868.
