Elk Fest

Estes Park will host the 17th annual Elk Fest Oct. 3-4, which includes opportunities to see the elk in their natural habitat, join the Rut Run 5K, enter a bugling contest and see Native American music, dancing and storytelling. Fiber festival

Weehawken Creative Arts will host the Sneffels Fiber Festival at Cottonwood Ranch between Ridgway and Ouray on Sept. 25-27. The third annual festival will feature fiber vendors, food, workshops, classes, demonstrations, a juried exhibition and a silent auction. $10 per person. RSVP to 970-728.6743. Haunted brews

Horror show

The sixth annual Telluride Horror Show, featuring spooky fantasy and sci-fi films, runs Oct. 16-18. The Sheridan Opera House and Nugget Theatre will show the latest and best horror films from all over the world. Three-day passes are $94, “5 for 4” tickets are $40.
