Thursday. ‘Tis the season of season openings and that goes for Denver Eclectic Concerts, which kicks off its new year with a show by the Altius String Quartet. The ensemble, founded at Southern Methodist University in 2011, is the “String Quartet-in-Residence” at the University of Colorado. The scholarly program has the award-wining musicians being mentored by Boulder’s, globe-trotting Takács Quartet. Thursday’s program is, appropriately, eclectic, featuring music by by Shostakovich, Schubert and other composers. 7 p.m. Thursday, Cameron Church, 1600 S. Pearl St., in Denver’s historic Old South Pearl District. General Admission tickets are $18 in advance, $20 at the door. .
