A man was injured Sunday night in Estes Park after an encounter with an elk.
Kate Rusch, town spokeswoman, says details on the incident are sparse.
“We’re still gathering information right now,” she said.
Authorities say the man is expected to survive and that his injuries included cuts to his back and arms. The encounter happened about 6:30 p.m. near th Estes Park Visitor Center.
“We’re getting a lot of elk in town right now and a lot of people,” Rusch said. “People forget they are wild animals.”
