It’s been a long run for Denver’s Scrooge.
Philip Pleasants, considered the perennial Ebenezer Scrooge at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, will retire from the role after this year’s DCPA production of “A Christmas Carol.”
This will be his ninth production as Scrooge at the Theatre Company.
Sam Gregory will take over in 2016. Gregory will act as the Scrooge understudy for the 2015 production.
Pleasants is currently playing three roles in “As You Like It” and has been cast in an upcoming, yet to be announced production later this season. According to a DCPA spokesperson, “while he is retiring as Scrooge, he is by no means retiring as an actor.”
