GOLDEN — The Jefferson County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday passed an amendment to the county’s sign regulations to comply with a recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling.

The new sign code will now regulate signs based on size, location and material rather than content.

The Supreme Court decision in ., sided with a church pastor and ruled that the town could not regulate signs based on content.

Other municipalities in the Denver metro area such as Arvada, Littleton and Westminster are also looking at amendments to comply with the Supreme Court ruling.
