Re: “Boulder bear will be shot at first opportunity,” Sept. 27 news story.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) officials plan to kill a mother bear known as Boulder Bear N0. 317 the next time they see her.
We have a wild animal refuge literally in our own backyard with the sanctuary at Keenesburg. Why couldn’t this bear be sent there? With the offer of a full cash payment to relocate the bear, there would be no cost to taxpayers, and CPW would be hailed as having mercy and cast in a positive light. Better yet, at least this bear gets to live.
The blood of all the bears killed by CPW in this state is on the hands of those too lazy to properly dispose of garbage. One wonders, with the continued encroachment on their habitat by house-building humans, where are these poor animals supposed to live? Only in zoos?
