GREELEY, Colo. (AP) — A teenager has died after a vehicle fleeing a police officer crashed into his car Friday night.
Greeley police spokesman Sgt. Joe Tymkowych said in a statement that the incident began when a Greeley officer attempted to stop an SUV for a traffic violation.
Police say the driver of the vehicle drove off and police called off the chase when it got too dangerous.
Tymkowych says the SUV hit another vehicle at a high rate of speed about four minutes later.
The victim has been identified as 17-year-old Riley Young, of Strasburg. A passenger was critically injured.
The suspect was also critically injured. He has not been identified.
