I want candy. Police were called to the Dayton Mart at 1411 N. Dayton St. because a teenager stole a pack of candy Sept. 27. The suspect bought some sour candy, then brought it back a few minutes later because it was too sour. The clerk wouldn’t let her exchange the candy, so she just grabbed the regular, $1.19 candy and took off with both.

Pigging out at Fat Boys. A couple eating dinner on the patio at the Fat Boys Grill, 10660 E. Alameda Ave., decided to jump the railing at the end of their meal and drive away without paying Sept. 20. Police found the suspects based on their license plate. The officer called the woman who the car was registered to. She admitted to leaving, and brought her boyfriend to meet the officer and get ticketed.

Double bagged. A loss-prevention employee at the Walmart at 6101 S. Aurora Parkway caught two women stealing items by scanning light things like candy at the self check out and then bagging multiple, un-scanned things like makeup and chips Sept. 25.

Bleacher theft. A group of girls left their backpacks under the bleachers during a football game at Regis Jesuit High School, 6400 Lewiston Way on Sept. 19. They said they turned their backs for 10 minutes and the bags, containing electronics and clothes, were taken. There are no suspects.

Unlocked car. A woman reported that someone stole her cell phone out of her unlocked car while it was parked in front of her home in the 1000 block of South Jamaica Street on Sept. 22. There was security footage of the crime, but it was too hard to see the suspects’ face.
