
1 Missing mules recovered. A couple staying at a family cabin in the 2900 block of Colorado 67, Douglas County, awoke Sept. 26 to find that two mules that live on the land had gone missing. After a hike, the couple found a back gate that accessed a trailhead had been torn down. A neighbor posted on Facebook that the mules had come to their property, so the couple retrieved them. Police suspect poachers tore down the fence.
2 Battle in the burbs. A man said he was in his yard in the 10500 block of Atwood Circle, Highlands Ranch, on Sept. 29 when some neighborhood teens pulled up in a red Audi. One got out and threw an empty schnapps bottle at him, but missed. He reported that he threw a rock back, shattering the Audi’s windshield. The car sped off but the man and his wife called police when they saw it pass by several times later. Police did not locate the car.
3 Bottle smuggler. An employee at Highland Vineyard Liquors, 3506 Town Center Drive, Highlands Ranch, reported that a man in baggy shorts came into the store Sept. 27 and left without buying anything. Security footage showed the man shoving a liquor bottle in his pants pocket.
4 Camper plate jacked. A man who stores his camper in the 7100 block of Reynolds Drive, Douglas County, on Sept. 28 found that the camper’s license plate had been stolen.
5 There’s chalk for that. A resident of the 10100 block of Brentwood Circle, Highlands Ranch, said someone spray painted “HHS” and “$MSW” on the street Sept. 29.
