Denver prosecutors on Friday announced a grand jury has handed down a 142-count indictment against eight people accused in a methamphetamine-fueled, 20-month theft scheme.
The district attorney’s office says the eight conspired to steal cars, electronics and money from victims across the Denver area to pay for their drug habits.
Jesus Luna-Rodriguez, 22; Lucio Sierra-Camarena, 21; Luz Lomeli-Lucio, 35; and Ivan Lopez-Banuelos, 22, have been charged with violating Colorado’s Organized Crime Control Act.
They also face “multiple felony counts” in the case, prosecutors say, including identity theft, aggravated motor vehicle theft, possession of forged instruments and burglary.
“Lomeli-Lucio is also accused of multiple counts of possession with intent to distribute controlled substances after more than 500 grams of meth were allegedly seized from her home,” the district attorney’s office said.
Authorities say the four others indicted, whose names were not released, are accused of aiding the criminal enterprise, which affected nearly 100 victims between February 2014 and October 2015. Officials say the scheme spanned Denver, Lakewood, Aurora, Englewood, Littleton, Adams County, Arapahoe County, Douglas County and Jefferson County.
