Authorities in the Aspen area say a 40-year-old Texas man is wanted in connection with shoplifting high-priced liquors from several stores over the last several days.

On Thursday, police say, he stolen a $2,500 bottle of cognac from a shop in Basalt.

David Tiberious Rougeau has been linked to the thefts after Colorado authorities worked with police in Abilene, Texas, to confirm his identity through surveillance video.

Police say he may be heading to Texas in a Dodge Avenger 4-door sedan with Texas license plate BVC1375. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Rougeau is also suspected of stealing about $2,100 worth of alcohol in Snowmass Village on Tuesday in thefts from two shops that police say happened “within minutes of each other.”

Police they believe Rougeau may have stolen from shops in Aspen as well.

Authorities say Rougeau was dressed as a construction worker during the thefts and his disguise is how they tied him to Texas because of similar high-end liquor thefts reported there.
