
A 15-year veteran of the Colorado Springs police department, assigned as a detective in the homicide unit, resigned this month on a felony charge.
Paul Patton, 39, is accused of attempting to influence a public servant and also faces misdemeanor allegations of official misconduct and false reporting, Colorado Springs police said.
Court records show Patton is due to be arraigned on Oct. 19.
Lt. Catherine Buckley, a police spokeswoman, told The Denver Post on Monday that Patton resigned from the department on Oct. 1.
Patton was initially placed on paid administrative leave.
The Gazette reports the charges stem from Patton allegedly having sex with a victim in an . Last week the newspaper said a lawyer for the suspect in the kidnapping now on the grounds of “blatant misconduct.”
