Speer Boulevard is being spruced up as part of a $3 million bridge rehabilitation project, and westbound lanes will be shut down overnight over I-25 starting Friday night.
Lanes closures for bridge joint removal and replacement, waterproofing, paving and striping, will start at 9 p.m., the Colorado Department of Transportation said in a media release.
At least one lane will remain open as the overnight work continues through the weekend.
The lanes will reopen at about 5 a.m. and work should wrap up by Monday morning.
To avoid the closures, drivers on westbound Speer Boulevard can detour northbound on I-25 to Exit 212C onto 20th Street. Motorists will travel west to southbound I-25 and use Exit 212B to rejoin Speer Boulevard.
Eastbound Speer Boulevard will remain open but motorists should allow additional time for travel in the area. These lane closures will cause delays and alternate routes are advised.
