WASHINGTON — Democrat Morgan Carroll netted more than $377,000 in contributions in the first three months of her bid to unseat Republican incumbent Mike Coffman, according to a short statement released Wednesday by her campaign.

The six-digit haul is sizable for a challenger but still is less than the $475,000 that between July 1 and Sept. 30 in his defense of Colorado’s 6th Congressional District. As another point of comparison, Democrat Andrew Romanoff raised about $515,000 in the first fundraising quarter of his ultimately unsuccessful 2014 campaign to beat Coffman, according to federal election records.

“I am pleased that we were able to surpass our goal and have such a strong outpouring of support from the 6th Congressional District and across Colorado,” said Carroll in a statement. “People are frustrated with the dysfunctional GOP leadership in Congress and know they deserve responsible leadership and real results.”

Carroll has about $307,000 cash-on-hand, which is less than half the $855,000 that the Coffman campaign r.

Full details on who gave money to the two candidates won’t be available until Thursday when fundraising figures are due to the Federal Election Commission.
