Sen. Ray Scott,

R-Grand Junction

Republican state senators continue their rhetorical march on what they see as “the coming storm” of regulations on energy production and the environment with Tuesday forum in Grand Junction.

“Coloradans are naturally concerned about what the coming storm of federal energy and environmental regulations will mean to them as breadwinners, workers, business owners and energy consumers,” the Senate GOP said in an announcement Friday. “What impact will EPA regulations on carbon, ozone and water have on their families and communities?”

Sen. Ray Scott of Grand Junction will lead a roster of speakers from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Mesa County Workforce Center at 512 291/2 Road, which is just off Interstate 70 from the North Avenue/U.S. 6 exit (Exit 37).

The series of forums, called “EPA’s Coming Storm,” began on Sept. 23 in Longmont, led by Sen. Kevin Lundberg of Berthoud.

“The EPA has become a significant threat to our freedoms and our state’s economic vitality,” Lundberg said in a statement. “We don’t need federal bureaucrats who ‘consult with stakeholders. We need bureaucrats who actually listen to the citizens who have to live with the regulations, follow the law and then apply common sense in crafting regulations.”

After Tuesday, the next forum will be Oct. 28 in Pueblo and Oct. 29 in Denver. For updates on times and locations, v.

Other speakers at the Grand Junction forum include Tony Gagliardi, state director of the National Federation of Independent Business; utilities attorney and former chairman of the Colorado Public Utilities Ray Gifford; and energy policy analyst Michael Sandoval of the Denver-based Independence Institute think tank.

“The events bring stakeholders, policymakers, experts and citizens together to share their concerns, answer questions and discuss what impacts this ‘perfect storm’ of EPA interventions will have on their lives,” according to the Senate Republicans’ statement.
