Sunrise from Denver’s Park Hill neighborhood on Oct. 19. (Photo by William Porter)

Sure, the sun comes up each morning. It’s just that on some days, the sunrise is more spectacular than others.

Case in point: Dawn arrived in the Mile High City this morning in spectacular fashion, witness this photograph of a Denver sunrise snapped with an iPhone in the southwest corner of the Park Hill neighborhood.

All that vivid orange and deep blue against the silhouette of autumn trees put me in mind of the great 20th-century illustrator and artist , known for his burnished golds and cobalt blues.

It was a great way to start the day in Denver, even better than , speaking of things orange and blue.
