Construction of a new bike lane in downtown Denver this week will slow motor vehicle traffic.

Installation of a new bike lane will cause traffic lane shutdowns on Arapahoe Street, between 16th and 17th Streets, starting at 7 a.m. Tuesday, according to Denver Public Works.

Arapahoe will be reduced to one lane and the work should be completed at about 5 p.m. Thursday, according to a public works media release.

Drivers should expect delays during the work and bicyclists will be sharing a traffic lane with motorists during the bike lane installation.

Work is weather dependent and subject to change.
