1 Tip taker. A man came into Carniceria Compare, 575 N. Sable Blvd., twice on Oct. 3 to buy burritos and snacks. When he came in for a third time that day, he ordered some food and then waited for the cashier to turn around before grabbing the tip jar and taking off. There was about $60 in the jar.

2 Unsafe storage. The owner of Storequest, 16400 E. Colfax Ave., called police after she realized that someone tried to break into several units Oct. 7. The screws to some of the unit doors were removed, and some stucco on other units had been hacked apart. It wasn’t clear if anything was taken.

3 McDonald’s thief. A man called police to the McDonald’s at 1050 S. Chambers Road because someone stole his phone after he accidentally left it at the booth where he was eating Oct. 4. There was security footage of the suspect, but officers couldn’t make out the person’s face.

4 Everything but the hinges. Employees at Anna’s Assisted Living Center, 13901 E. Quincy Ave., called police Oct. 5 because someone stole a garage door from the building. The suspects also stole a water heater that was inside.

5 Tool heist. Police responded to the 900 block of South Peoria Street because someone broke into a man’s work van and stole hundreds of dollars worth of tools Oct. 5. The thief busted out the driver’s side window to get in. There are no suspects.

6 Someone else’s bills. A woman who lives in the 1300 block of South Biscay Street went to police Oct. 1 to report that someone opened a credit card in her name without her permission and racked up a bunch of charges. There are no suspects.
