Due to rain, first-round softball games in the 5A and 4A state tournaments will be delayed on Friday.

10 a.m. games were pushed back to 12:15 p.m. and the 12:15 games will start at 2:30 p.m. 5A and 4A quarterfinals are slated for 4:30 p.m.

3A is unaffected by the weather because those games started at 12:15 p.m. anyways.

“It’s still raining. There’s no way, with the continuation of rain today, that those 10 a.m. games could start on time,” Bud Ozzello, a CHSAA assistant commissioner in charge of softball, CHSAANow.com.

“Because at this time, (the grounds crew) would not have enough time to work in the morning to get those infields worked and the outfields drained,” Ozzello .

CHSAA and Aurora Sports Park grounds staff will reconvene at 4:30 p.m. Thursday for updated field assessments.
