The Broncos are on their bye, but football doesn’t stop. The Jets and Patriots square off for AFC East supremacy and Yahoo hosts their first online streaming game with the Bills-Jaguars game from Wembley Stadium.
The highlight will be Cam Newton’s Panthers facing another tough NFC opponent in primetime. Can they repeat with an impressive showing against a suddenly competent Eagles team?
Buffalo vs. Jacksonville in London, 7:30 a.m., Yahoo. The Jaguars have lost their last five games. Gus Bradley is 8-30 as Jacksonville’s head coach. Nobody said this was going to be a quick rebuild.
Tampa Bay at Washington, 11 a.m. Jameis Winston and Kirk Cousins have the Nos. 4 and 5 worst quarterback ratings, respectively, in the NFL.
Atlanta at Tennessee, 11 a.m. No Marcus Mariota for the Titans this week because of a knee injury. Backup Zach Mettenberger has lost each of his first six starts.
New Orleans at Indianapolis, 11 a.m., KDVR-31. The Saints give up the most yards on defense in the league. The Colts aren’t much better, giving up the fourth-most. Shootout in Indy.
Minnesota at Detroit, 11 a.m. The Lions finally got a win last week on the shoulders of Matthew Stafford, but they still can’t run the ball (66.5 rushing yards per game).
Pittsburgh at Kansas City, 11 a.m. It went downhill fast for the Chiefs, who have lost their last five games. A wounded Steelers team could present an opportunity for a rare win.
Cleveland at St. Louis, 11 a.m. Todd Gurley averages 5.71 yards per carry, best in the NFL. The Browns’ run defense is atrocious.
Houston at Miami, 11 a.m. Two teams with playoff dreams off to a disappointing start. It’s likely an early-season knockout game as far as making the playoffs.
New York Jets at New England, 11 a.m., KCNC-4. It’s not Rex Ryan vs. Bill Belichick, but Jets vs. Patriots shouldn’t lack for action. The Jets are off to a solid 4-1 start. To be the best, you have to beat the best.
Oakland at San Diego, 2:05 p.m. This feels like a battle for the second-place AFC West trophy. Oh wait, you don’t get a trophy for that?
Dallas at New York Giants, 2:25 p.m., KDVR-31. The Cowboys have looked terrible without Tony Romo and Dez Bryant. The Giants looked terrible against Philly on Monday night. Who will make the least mistakes?
Baltimore at Arizona, 6:30 p.m., Monday, ESPN. In the Cardinals’ four wins this season, they’ve outscored their opponents 168 to 66.
Game of the week
Philadelphia at Carolina, 6:30, KUSA-9.
Even after a win in Seattle, some are skeptical of the Panthers’ contender status. They’ll face a division leader in primetime to sway their remaining doubters. Last season, the Eagles beat the Panthers 45-21, sacking Cam Newton nine times in the process. I’m sure he still remembers.
