When we settle in to watch our beloved Broncos each week, one burning question always pops up: What kind of music do these guys listen to?
We had to know. So, The Denver Postap Nicki Jhabvala asked ten Denver Broncos about the songs and artists that get their horses neighing, or at the very least their speakers rattling. Over the coming weeks, we’ll share their answers and pull them together at the end into one glorious playlist, so you can go all “Eye Of The Tiger” in your next flag football game.
Check out the other players in the Broncos playlist series:
Von Miller, LBT.J. Ward, SNathan Palmer, WRChris Harris, CB
Virgil Green, TE
Favorite artist: Ab-Soul
Green needs little coaxing. “Relax, sit back, pretend as though you’re listening to one of your favorite songs,” he’s told.
Immediately Green pulls on his headphones and starts bobbing his head. Wait a few seconds, and the lyrics will follow.
“Don’t think about it too much, too much, too much, too much.”
The words just flow out, as if they were sitting on the tip of his tongue, waiting to greet anyone who will listen. Drake’s “Too Much” is too much for him to suppress.
“There’s no need for us to rush it through.”
Green will “sing” most anytime he has the right song. Pregame? He’ll do his warm-ups on beat with the music. Practice? He’ll give you a few lyrics in between drills. Afterward? Well, anything goes then.
Analysis:
Green is as much about hip-hop as the rest of his Broncos, but with a different concentration than the teammates we’ve heard from so far. Ab-Soul is a rapper’s rapper, the sort of artist who doesn’t get the credit he deserves. The same could be said of Green, who’s enjoying an active year as a target TE this season. But seeing as he’s still a “Brand New Guy” in the role, maybe you shouldn’t bank “Too Much” of your fantasy team future in him just yet.
