
You’ve got to hand it to Denver District Judge Michael Mullins: He’s the opposite of the prideful jurist who finds it impossible to admit that he’s ever wrong. And regarding Denver Rescue Mission’s Lawrence Street Community Center is welcome indeed.
It means that a facility already built and meant to assist the homeless won’t stand empty and useless.
A neighborhood group had argued that the center was an illegal expansion of the adjacent shelter, but the Rescue Mission in fact isn’t adding any new beds.
The homeless population in Denver has been growing. And while that doesn’t mean any new facility situated anywhere should be welcomed, this one makes perfect sense.
