THREE UP

1. Patriots: Their secondary is vulnerable, but doesn’t matter how defense plays if other teams remain unable to stop Tom Brady and tight end Rob Gronkowski.

2. Packers: Defense allows fewest points per game (16.8), and boasts menacing pass rushers in Julius Peppers and Clay Matthews.

3. Panthers: Sit 6-0 for the first time in franchise history. QB Cam Newton features an MVP-type resume. Has a passing touchdown and rushing touchdown in four of his past five games.

THREE DOWN

1. Ravens: No one has played more close games than the Ravens. And no one has lost more. They are minus-7 in takeaway/giveway margin.

2. Lions: QB Matthew Stafford regressing, O-line play awful, running game miserable. No surprise team canned offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi.

3. Texans: Itap not that Texans are losing, itap how. They trailed 41-0 to Dolphins last week, and fell behind 42-0 earlier this season to Falcons. Embarrassing is apt description of this hot mess.
