The Broncos plan on using wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders on punt returns, even though he’s returning from an injured left shoulder. Sanders has been steady catching punts, but averages only 6.4 yards per return with a long of 13.
“(The shoulder) is a concern, but he’s been fine. He’s tough,” coach Gary Kubiak said.
As a concession to Sanders’ injury, Omar Bolden and David Bruton have been fielding punts in practice this week.
McManus honored
If not for kicker Brandon McManus the Broncos would not be undefeated. After winning the job from Connor Barth, McManus has converted 16 of 17 field goals, including four from 50-plus yards. McManus received recognition Thursday, earning AFC special teams player of the month. He kicked two game winners in October.
“He’s been our special teams player of the game four out of six weeks,” Kubiak said. “He’s worked really hard to get where he is.”
Line remains the same
With rookie Ty Sambrailo (shoulder) limited in practice, the expectation is that Denver’s offensive line will look the same as it did against Cleveland. Michael Schofield will start at right tackle, Kubiak said, and Ryan Harris appears poised to stay at left tackle. The Broncos ran the ball for a season-best 152 yards at Cleveland.
“The bye week has helped us,” offensive coordinator Rick Dennison said. “I think we are all on the same page moving forward.”
