Interview with Dr. Gary H. Partnow, owner

Q: How did you get involved in this business?

A: My father was deaf, and blind in one eye, so I was acutely aware of how important vision is. People can take their vision and eye health for granted. I want to change that and help people have healthy vision.

Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?

A: We have everything you want and nothing you don’t. We have a no dilation option called OPTOS that allows us to take a laser image of your retina without dilation drops but still checking your eye for diabetes, retinal holes, cancer and a lot of other issues. All with no paperwork, and no air puff for eye pressure. My office is designed with everyone in mind for a great experience.

Q: What do you like best about your line of work?

A: Making people happy. Especially when I can improve on a patient’s vision with eye care, contact or glasses. I have had kids say, “I can see the leaves,” and that makes me happy.

Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?

A: Being open for one year is tough. A new business is a challenge to grow and be successful. All of the feedback, reviews and how busy we are getting tells me I am on the right track.

Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:

A: With the amount of drive and dedication needed to get where I am, people might laugh to know I was a ski bum at Arapahoe Basin and Keystone for several years. I was also a firefighter, flew fixed- wing planes in college and flew helicopters in another career.
