A man who fired a gun in three separate Denver crimes has been sentenced to 14 years in prison.

Anthony Dennis, 25, who had pleaded guilty earlier to attempted first-degree assault, possession of an illegal firearm and felony menacing, was sentenced this week in Denver District Court, according to a Denver District Attorney’s Office media release.

On Jan. 27, Dennis shot a homeowner’s dog during a burglary. Later the same day, he fired shots at a homeowner during another burglary, according to prosecutors. On Jan. 29, Dennis fired several shots at victim following a dispute.

Using matches generated through the National Integrated Ballistics Identification Network, as well as other evidence, Denver police and federal agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms identified Dennis and he was arrested.
